Milagres Review

March 29, 2012—-On the road to Nashville, Tennessee—-For about the last seven months, I’ve been receiving monthly and weekly mix tapes and “songs of the week” to download from INSOUND, an online music distributor. I suppose, when they send out these few songs, they are making an effort to get subscribers to buy others songs, albums, or merchandise from those artists through them.
There are actually quality songs they send out and I listen to all the time. One particular song that caught my attention and I’ve really loved listening to ever since I got back in September was a song by Milagres called “Glowing Mouth.” What got me hooked is the singer’s falsetto, the simple and catchy rhythm and tune which is easy to remember and addictive, and also when I disappointingly think the song is about to end, it starts up again.
My favorite line in the song: “Do you know what the darkness said to me? She said, ‘Son, you better get used to believing in things you can’t see.’” It seems to give me a feeling that the unexpected mysterious things are about to happen.
It was embarrassing to say that I had only listened to this one song by Milagres and not taken the time to look into their other material. Oddly enough, I met the band about two weeks ago when at a small venue in Sarasota, Florida, called The Blue Owl. I had told band member Eric that I loved their music and started writing a review for their song however had only listened to one of their songs. Haha… I’m pretty sure I wierded these awesome guys out; however, they let me work the merchandise table for them. I did get to listen to more of their music while working at the show and I loved it.
It was their first tour that went through Florida and it was pretty exciting that this national act did not care so much that they were playing at a small spot in old Sarasota. They definitely built a small fan base there and sold a decent amount of merchandise.
I highly recommend “Glowing Mouth” and the rest of their album for you to take a listen to. You would really like their live performance, so check that out too. Very personable guys, so don’t feel shy to introduce yourself to them.
Here are other places to learn more about them: Tumblr, Bandcamp, Website or Wikipedia.

American journalist and one of the UK’s best-known war correspondents, Marie Colvin, and award-winning French photojournalist Rémi Ochlik were killed in Homs, Syria, today.
“I want to report with great shock the sad news of the death of Marie Colvin in Syria today,” said John Witherow, editor of The Sunday Times, in a statement. “Marie was an extraordinary figure in the life of The Sunday Times, driven by a passion to cover wars in the belief that what she did mattered. She believed profoundly that reporting could curtail the excesses of brutal regimes and make the international community take notice.”

Art containing hands is rather interesting. I like how these hands are in the shape of a wing.

Enamour Entirety Review

January 25, 2012—In Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Sharena Chindavong began actively pursuing her passion for creating fashionable jewelry in the fall of 2011.This past November she began her Etsy site and named the endeavor Enamour Entirety, standing for being entirely in love.
She had decided to start an Etsy account initially because one day she found a piece of jewelry online that she loved; however, she believed the jewelry to be overpriced. She refuses to pay such high prices for things she could make herself.
The jewelry is made from either aluminum or copper wiring, and is either made into ear cuffs or rings. Her favorite piece she has made and currently has posted on her site is a Long Silver Ear Cuff.
Sharena hopes her hobby will get bigger in the long term; meanwhile, she believes that it’s just fun to make jewelry and a little extra money on the side while she’s busy attending college full-time at Middle Tennessee State University.
I personally have a piece of jewelry made by Sharena and I love it. It’s a short silver ear cuff with a triangle charm on the bottom. The picture above is one of the pieces that she has posted for sale on her site. I highly recommend others check out what she’s been doing and making at this site. The handmade pieces are cute and affordable and made entirely with Sharena’s talent and love of the craft.

Ener y Deci Remix Release

The other day, Jan 1, Aural Sects released my remix compilation for Ener y Deci. It means so much to me that people took my music and made the time to make their own art out of it. Please check it out. The genres associated with it are ambient, noise, witch house, electronica, etc.

Graduation-Keep Believing in Yourself

Over a week ago, Dec. 17, I graduated from college. Magna Cum Laude, Middle Tennessee State University, 2008-2011. I am bragging; for me, it is something to be extremely proud of. I didn’t care if the ceremony was a long process and made people start to doze off. I made my mom proud. This graduation was for my family and friends. To me, it symbolized a sigh of relief after seemingly holding my breath while seeing if I could make it through my academic dungeon.
I haven’t tried to get a steady job for after college. So many people are so skeptical about the job market or whatever. What matters to me is to do things that I enjoy and stay motivated. College, for me, was worth the time. I met people, I learned, I’ve applied those elements to my life. What matters is who and what I know and staying motivated to continually pursue my ideas and keep my friends and connections.
